Click on the link to see a whole series of these still life paintings which place modern weapons of war into very traditional European style compositions, that have been painted in a contemporary style that reminds me of the banal hyperrealism you find in Chinese oil paintings shipped to the West in giant container ships.
Perhaps these paintings are an elaborate play on the phrase “still life”…i.e. these weapons are instruments that can “still” or stop life.  Perhaps a comment on how the more things change, the more they stay the same.  Ultimately, I suspect the main point is that underlying the excesses and luxuries of bourgeoisie capitalism you will find the weapons of war.
